Gogglebox star Mary Cook was surrounded by her nearest and dearest in hospital before passing away peacefully at the age of 92.
Fans of the show were left devastated on Monday after learning that the television favourite, who joined the popular Channel 4 show with her best friend Marina Wingrove in 2016, had passed over the weekend.
And in a statement confirming the tragic news, Mary's heartbroken family revealed that they were able to say their goodbyes to her during their final few days together.
The statement read: "We are extremely sad to share that Gogglebox star Mary Cook passed away in hospital this weekend at the age of 92 with her family by her side."
It continued: "Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend to many, Mary, who worked in the hospitality trade, had been married and widowed twice.
"Bristolians Mary & Marina met at St Monica Trust retirement village over ten years ago and had been friends ever since.
"They joined Gogglebox in 2016 at the start of series eight and became instant fan favourites due to their brilliantly witty and often cheeky comments.
"Mary will be sorely missed by the entire Gogglebox family, cast and crew," the statement ended.
Mary and her pal Marina won television stardom after Gogglebox producers spotted them at Asda.
Speaking of the moment they got discovered, Marina previously said: "I went across to catch the bus down to Asda, and this young girl comes up to me and says 'do you ever watch Gogglebox?'
"I said, 'well, I have done' and she said 'do you want to be on it?' I thought, 'I'm game for a laugh, like'.
"Then she said 'have you got a friend?' And like that, Mary came round the corner on her scooter."
