She might be famous for one of the most raucous shows on TV, but Geordie Shore star Sophie Kasaei has found a little bit of calm amid a life of partying.
When she got together with TOWIE star Bobby Norris for his weekly new! magazine column, the reality star revealed that she’s embraced spirituality, with mantras, journalling and affirmations – even ordering her Mr Right!
“Honestly, babes, it’s been life changing,” Sophie told Bobby. “During lockdown I needed a bit of stability so I started getting into crystals and manifestations.
"I even meditated as well. Out of it all, this new 'me' just started to emerge!"
"So I began writing a journal every day," she continued. "The act of handwriting something was like therapy, it really helped me work out what I want from life."
Sophie, 31, got so much out of writing a journal that she’s encouraging everybody else to do the same.
She explained: “I put all my plans in it. So I came up with this idea to bring out a journal for other people to manifest what they want from their lives too. I launched skunmasked.com as well as The Boss B*tch Planner with daily to-dos and shopping lists, a habit tracker and loads more.”
Sophie’s coping strategies definitely resonated with Bobby, who admitted: “I’ve found if I’m suffering from anxiety, just putting it down on paper really calms me down.”
“It does!” agreed Sophie. “I mean, I hadn’t even seen my own handwriting for so long. It’s so easy to spend all your time on social media. I do think we are destroying our mental health by being on our phones all the time.
“Now I’m like a bit of an agony aunt with the OGs girls. They’ll come to me saying this and that was said about them on Insta, and I’ll help them.”
Sophie also told Bobby how she’s taking steps to control her destiny.
“The other thing I did was start manifesting who I want in my life – like what sort of a relationship, and all the qualities I look for in a man," she said. "So when I do meet someone I know exactly what I want and what I deserve. I’m not f**king about any more, Bobs. I wanna meet The One!
“I’ve been dating and I’m happy because I’m not putting any pressure on myself. I want to have a nice summer and embrace being me. I think I’ve finally found myself, I was a bit lost but now I really think I could attract someone.”
As the pals continued their chat, Bobby questioned Sophie about a tarot reading, which threw up the name of a potential love interest.
“I don’t want to jinx anything so I’m not going to go into this too much, but I was given a name, yes,” Sophie confessed. “And that name has come to me recently! I’ve never met anyone with that name before.”
“I don’t want to put it out into the universe just yet, but it has been strange. Other things the tarot said have also come true. I do believe in all that spiritual stuff," she said.
“We’re always looking and asking for answers in our lives. We all just want to know what the f**k is going on!”
Sophie, who was part of the Newcastle-based reality show from its start in 2011 until 2019, told Bobby that she had concerns about whether audiences would still be interested in her when the OGs series was being filmed.
She said: “We’re just finishing Geordie OGs. I did worry at first about the stories, thinking, 'OMG will people even care about me?'. All the girls in it are now married and having babies whereas I’m still single. But now it’s on air, I’ve realised there are so many more people in my position.
“But also, there’s been a baby boom because people have come out of lockdown and are having sex! And everyone on Insta is showing off their pregnancies.”
While Sophie has loved being in the spotlight, there is one huge downside to fame.
“Recently we found a troll who’d been sending me and Charlotte Crosby really vile things via personal messages," she said. "Charlotte’s boyfriend, Liam Beaumont, did a bit of digging and found out they were coming from the same person who’d been acting like a big fan too, sending lovely messages. I mean, WTF?
"Worse still, she was a mum of two girls – she should know better! She’s been deleted now. It’s disgusting that some people think they can do this and not get caught. But the trolls better watch out now.”
Yet despite having to deal with offensive comments from trolls, Sophie told Bobby that she was happy about joining OGs, as it allowed her to reveal more about herself.
“On GS you don’t get to show your proper personality as much as you can on OG," she said. " When I left GS and went into OGs, it was a mad transition as I could show who I really was rather than going to parties and things.
"We always said we need something like TOWIE, more about our lives, and finally the Gods of TV listened to us and we got this show. I love it, I can’t wait to be on it getting married or engaged or planning a baby!”
