Emmerdales Kim Tate actress Claire King teases soaps action-packed 2022 plans

Claire King has shared her hopes for her Emmerdale character Kim Tate and admitted she’d love to see her reconnect with her granddaughter this year.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, Claire says that while Kim’s year is set to be “action-packed”, she will also want to see her granddaughter Millie Tate.

The actress, who has just turned 60, filled us in on what we can expect for Kim in the Dales for the rest of 2022.

“No one has told me, but I do know it’s going to be action-packed!” she says.

She continued: “I think all the stuff with Jamie might raise its ugly head, as Kim thinks Jamie is dead and hasn’t seen Millie – I know she’ll want to see her granddaughter.

“She will have a way of trying to find her. But I don’t know.”

In September, Kim’s son Jamie was seen losing control of his car and plunging into a lake.

The car hit the water and immediately sank, with Jamie being presumed dead, but he returned to the soap a couple of months later in a savage twist.

Throughout that time Home Farm matriarch Kim had been convinced her son was alive as his body was never recovered, and her theory was confirmed to viewers following Andrea Tate's (played by Anna Nightingale) funeral.

After the funeral it was decided that Millie (Willow Bell) would go and live with her grandmother Granny Hazel, played by newcomer to the ITV soap Kate Anthony, as Kim is busy with her business ventures.

Fans were shocked when they saw Jamie waiting to welcome them both back following the funeral as they pulled up in the car.

Kim hasn’t seen her granddaughter since Andrea’s funeral, and it seems that her mum Hazel and Jamie have been cooking up the plan behind Kim’s back all along.

And Jamie appears to be keen to make his mum suffer.

Speaking to OK! and other media outlets earlier this year, Emmerdale Script Editor Laura Shaw teased what was to come with the juicy Jamie storyline.

She said: “We know that Jamie Tate is actually still alive and so obviously that information is still to come out. Who's going to find out? And what will they do once they know?"

As for how Kim will react if she ever uncovers the truth, Laura teased: "We know what a tough cookie Kim is, but we also know that Jamie is her Achilles heel.

“I'm pretty sure we can expect huge fireworks if she ever finds out just how much he betrayed her."

Meanwhile, Kim told us what she loves about playing the iconic character, who is a feisty businesswoman.

She told us: “I like the fact she speaks straight from the heart. She’s probably too honest and direct, and sometimes offensive with that.

“Usually, it’s a means to an end for her benefit. She gets away with murder!

“It’s great for me, as I get it all out of my system through playing her and then I’m chilled! I also love the fact she does have an Achilles’ heel with her son [Jamie].”
