Chris Pine to Play Walter Cronkite in JFK Assassination Movie ‘Newsflash’

Chris Pine will be taking on the role of an iconic newsman.

The 38-year-old actor is set to portray CBS newsman Walter Cronkite in the upcoming drama Newsflash, Deadline reports.

The film is set to take place on November 22, 1963 – the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Texas. The film covers the day that television network news came of age, and Walter become the most trusted TV newsman in America.

Mark Ruffalo is set to play Don Hewitt, Walter‘s producer who helped navigate the chaos during the tragic day.

As of right now, the Ben Jacoby-scripted drama doesn’t have a director.
