Chace Crawford Finally Reacts to the Bulge That Broke the Internet

The “Boys” star didn’t realize the headline-making calendar would be all about him.

Chace Crawford is finally sounding off on one of the biggest Twitter moments in recent memory: the day that bulge photo dropped.

The actor, who stars as the actually vile aquatic superhero The Deep on Amazon Prime Video’s "The Boys," recently went viral for a promotional calendar only for the show. One picture in particular, for March 2020, caught everyone’s eye for … reasons.

Naturally, the Internet had questions. Many of them. Did Amazon really forget to edit that one photo picture? Was it digitally enhanced? Why were the rest of the photos seemingly smoothed out? And, most importantly, did Chace himself sign off on it?

Well, Entertainment Weekly caught up with the former "Gossip Girl" star, who wasn’t as forthcoming as one would hope.

"There is a story behind that but I’m sworn to secrecy by Eric Kripke," Crawford said, referring to the show’s co-creator. "I’m sworn to secrecy. I wish I could give you a good answer but we’ll never know. It will forever remain a mystery. We will never know!"

"I thought it was so funny, but I don’t think anyone got a bigger kick out of it than Eric Kripke," he added of the online reaction. "He thought it was the funniest thing in the world. Oh god. It was probably a little bit over-covered but I was like, ‘Whatever The Deep can do for you guys to get some press, you know I’m ready to support the show!’ That was one I had to explain to a few people. I got a lot of weird DMs in my inbox."

One thing we do know, however, is that Chace wasn’t expecting the calendar to only featured him. He said he agreed to do a calendar, but figured it would include the rest of his superhero squad.

"They showed me one of the months and I’m like, ‘Cool.’ But then I’m flipping through and I’m like, ‘Wait… I’m in every one of these. It’s just me. Well… s—t,’" Crawford said. "I died laughing. It’s obviously in character and it’s amazingly cheesy and really funny. We really went for it. And when I was at Comic-Con they just had like 40 of them. I was like, ‘Okay, no one’s ever going to really see these.’ Little did I know… yeah. Yup."

"The Boys" is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video and has already been renewed for a second season.
