Cardi B Named ASCAP Songwriter Of The Year For Second Year In A Row

Cardi B has been named ASCAP Songwriter Of The Year for the second year in a row.

The rapper will be the first female songwriter to win ASCAP songwriter of the year award twice.

Meek Mill‘s “Going Bad” won the Top Rap Song award, while “Suge,” DaBaby‘s first top 10 song, was named the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Song.

“Deliver Me (This is my Exodus),” written by Desmond Davis, Marshon Lewis and Rob “Code Lei” Woolridge, won the Top Gospel Song.

Universal Music Publishing Group is the Publisher of the Year.

On Wednesday, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers launched its fourth virtual awards event, the 2020 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards, recognizing the winners of the most performed songs of the past year in R&B, hip-hop and gospel music.

Through Friday, ASCAP will share exclusive photos, videos, acceptance speeches and more from some of its top songwriters and publishers posted with the hashtag #ASCAPAwards to @ASCAPUrban on Instagram and @ASCAP on Twitter and Instagram.
