Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Stephanie Beatriz is set to become a first-time mum as she’s expecting a baby with husband Brad Hoss.
The 40-year-old, who plays Detective Rosa Diaz in the hit sitcom, announced her pregnancy in a gorgeous photo shoot with Brad, who she married in 2018.
‘I’m pregnant!’ she told People magazine. Stephanie went on to explain that she previously didn’t see children in her future but her plans changed once she and Brad settled down.
‘I didn’t think that a committed partnership was really for me. I couldn’t really see kids,’ she said. ‘It wasn’t that I was closed off to it. It was more that I couldn’t quite see how a baby fit into the life that I was building.’
Stephanie identifies as bisexual but added that her being married to Brad doesn’t make her ‘any less queer… I was able to be my fullest, most authentic self around Brad. He’s extremely empathetic and open’.
She added: ‘I think one of the best things you can do is raise a kid who understands that however a person chooses to shape their one glorious life is worthy of celebration.’
When and she and Brad tied the knot three years ago, Stephanie publicly reassured fans that she was still part of the LGBT community.
Amid speculation about her sexuality, she tweeted months before the wedding: ‘In October, I will marry a heterosexual man… but I’ll be bi till the day I die.’
Stephanie is part of the furniture on Brooklyn Nine-Nine having starred on the series since 2013 and across 153 episodes.
The actress will return to screens this summer when she stars in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights, which arrives in UK cinemas on June 18.
